Description
The final design is a quantum leap forwards from the municipal austerity that is often the norm with this type of building and the attention to detail both in basic planning and general functionality greatly impressed the jury.
The 24 month contract will see the provision of state-of-the-art accommodation for approximately 275 people, including police officers, community support officers and police staff, as well as a large custody suite with 40 modern cells. Enabling works on the six-acre site in Middle Engine Lane, Wallsend will commence shortly with the main build starting in May 2009.
